MashON is now available Download on the App Store

MashON vs Strava

Keep Strava. Add a live Mash.

Use MashON for a shared map and live group metrics while you ride, run, or walk. Keep using Strava for the parts of your routine you already enjoy.

Ghost rides are always free. No MashON PRO subscription is required.

What overlaps, and what changes

During a group activity

Strava

Free on phone; subscription on supported devices

Strava Beacon shares live location with safety contacts through a link. It is useful for someone following your outing, even without a Strava account.

Beacon is free when recording in the Strava phone app. Using Beacon on supported Apple Watch, Wear OS, or Garmin devices requires a Strava subscription. People viewing your link do not need a Strava account.

MashON Free: up to 3 participants

MashON puts participants on one live map with each other’s metrics. Create or join a Mash on iPhone; live sharing needs location permission and connectivity.

The Free limit includes the host: 3 participants total. PRO increases the limit to 10.

Strava

Free basics; subscription for extra comparisons

Strava already has Live Segments for runs and rides. Subscribers get additional comparisons, including personal records and leaderboard targets. MashON’s Ghost uses a recorded activity rather than a Strava segment.

MashON Always free

MashON replays an eligible recorded activity as a Ghost you can see moving on the map. Follow its route and compare your progress as you ride, run, or walk. Import your supported outdoor GPS activities from Strava or Apple Health, or use a GPX file with timing data.

How to use them together

  1. Connect Strava in MashON, then choose one of your supported outdoor GPS activities to import as a Ghost.
  2. Ride, run, or walk with that Ghost, or start a live Mash with friends.
  3. Use Upload to Strava on an eligible completed activity summary. This is a manual action, not automatic two-way sync. Check for an existing upload from another app to avoid duplicates.

Challenge a friend, or find a challenge nearby

Turn an eligible recorded activity into a challenge for a friend, or browse public challenges nearby and try a shared route. You do not have to start at the same time. Creating public challenges requires MashON PRO; nearby availability depends on what people have shared.

Do you need another app?

If Strava’s segments, route tools, and training analysis cover your needs, you may not need MashON. Add it when you want to see your group together during an activity or replay a recorded activity as a Ghost. You do not have to leave Strava behind.
